Everything you need to know about planning your Tanzania safari, Kilimanjaro trek, or Zanzibar escape.
Vista Treks & Safaris is a Tanzania-based, locally owned travel company specializing in tailor-made wildlife safaris, Mount Kilimanjaro treks, Zanzibar holidays and cultural experiences across Tanzania.
We are based in Arusha, Tanzania, the traditional gateway city to the northern safari circuit and Mount Kilimanjaro.
Yes, every itinerary we build can be tailored to your travel dates, interests, budget and pace. Our published packages are starting points, not fixed templates.
Absolutely. This is one of our most popular requests. We regularly design combined itineraries covering wildlife safaris, a Kilimanjaro climb and a Zanzibar beach stay.
We recommend booking 3 to 6 months in advance, especially for travel during peak season (June to October) or if you have specific lodges or Kilimanjaro routes in mind.
No, we welcome travelers from anywhere in the world, as well as local and regional visitors exploring Tanzania.
June to October offers the driest conditions and best overall wildlife viewing, while January to March is ideal for witnessing the wildebeest calving season in the southern Serengeti.
Tanzania is one of the most reliable places in Africa to see all of the Big Five, particularly when combining Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, though sightings of any wild animal can never be fully guaranteed.
The migration moves through the Serengeti ecosystem year-round. River crossings in the north are most likely between July and October, while calving season in the south peaks around January to March.
We use private 4x4 safari vehicles with pop-up roofs, allowing unobstructed views and photography during game drives.
Our safaris are private, meaning you travel with your own vehicle, guide and itinerary rather than joining a shared group with other travelers.
Neutral-colored clothing, layers for cool mornings, a hat, sunscreen, binoculars and a camera are recommended. We send a detailed packing list once your safari is confirmed.
It depends on your priorities: Lemosho and Machame offer excellent scenery and acclimatization, Marangu is the only route with hut accommodation, and Rongai offers a quieter northern approach.
No technical climbing skill is required on the standard trekking routes. Good general fitness and proper acclimatization matter far more than prior mountaineering experience.
Crampons are only sometimes required, depending on route, season and current mountain conditions. Please ask our trekking team before purchasing or packing them.
Most treks range from 6 to 10 days. Longer itineraries generally allow better acclimatization and higher summit success rates.
Our packages include a professional mountain guide, porters, park fees, camping or hut fees, meals during the trek and a summit certificate. See each route page for full details.
Yes, items such as sleeping bags, hiking poles and warm jackets can often be rented locally in Moshi or Arusha. Ask our team for recommendations when planning your trek.
It depends on your preference: Nungwi and Kendwa in the north offer lively beach bars and swimmable beaches at all tide levels, while the southeast coast offers a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere.
Yes, Zanzibar's calm waters and range of family-friendly accommodation make it a popular choice for families, couples, friends and solo travelers alike.
A short flight of around one to one and a half hours connects northern Tanzania safari airstrips or Kilimanjaro Airport directly to Zanzibar.
Zanzibar can be enjoyed year-round, though June to October and December to February offer the driest, sunniest conditions.
Absolutely. Snorkeling, diving, dhow cruises, spice farm tours and Stone Town walking tours can all be added to your Zanzibar itinerary.
